Now that election season is in full swing, our roadways and neighborhood lawns are covered by a beautiful (or not so beautiful) mosaic of political signs. Despite your political leanings, you can’t tear down your neighbor’s lawn signs! Washington law makes defacing or removing political signs a crime, punishable by up to 90 days in jail!! Legal defense like “necessity,” “duress,” or “crime of passion,” don’t apply. Don’t worry, we only have six (6) months left, because many municipalities like the City of Centralia require political signs to be removed within two weeks after the election. Hang on. . . it will all be over soon!! However, if you or someone you know needs legal representation, call Althauser Rayan Abbarno at (360) 736-1301.
